Of course you have to be a bit out of your mind to travel 1000 km for a concert, or you just have to be a big fan. Well it's probably a little of both, I went with 2 friends from Rotterdam to Germany, where we took the bus together with 65 psycho's from the region of Duisburg to Munich. We arrived in Munich at around 4 in the afternoon. We were all very surprised to see that the Meteors were going to play in something that was no more than a shed nexto a very small bar. We all waited in the bar, which wasn't too bad. At around 19:30 the bands started to play. I can't remember a lot of the bands, and I'm also not very sure if I was in this shed or in the bar at that time. I do have some blurred image of a band on stage other than the Meteors, so I probably did see some of the bands. The bands that probably played were The Caravans, Damage Done By Wormd and the Grave Stompers.
At around 23: The Meteors started to play. They opened with one of the favorite numbers (which I forgot). As a second number they played my favorite Michael Myers as loud and mean as it should sound. Everybody was going banana's. The slamming started. One of my friends I travelled with got a nice blow on his eye, which made him look funny. (it wasn't done on purpose by the way). At a certain point P. Paul Fenech took his bloodpill. It's one of the things that belong to a Meteors show. He takes this pill or drinks fake blood. It's very good when you've never seen the Meteors before. You suddenly see this guy all in blood and ask yourself if there was something serious happening on stage you just missed. When Fenech took his bloodpill everybody in the frontrow had blood on their face. They later played some old goodies like the Crazed, Love you till Death and Rockabilly Psychosis. I think they only played two songs of their new CD, but it's difficult to recall..
They didn't use an upright bass live, which I was interested in, since they recorded some songs with an upright again on their new CD Bastard Sonds Of A Rock'n'Roll Devil. I believe the Meteors played 50 minutes to one hour. All in all I think it was probably the best show I've ever seen of the Meteors. The audience was very enthousiastic and I think the Meteors liked it to. Too bad they played in this shed...
The way back was much easier as the way to Muenchen. I think the bus left at 2, and we arrived in Duisburg/Kempen at 9 or something. Then we only had to travel to Rotterdam and I had to travel to Amsterdam. My face was still full of the fake blood I got from the Meteors concert, so people were looking funny at me...
