After the end of " Mystery Train " by May 1999, Philippe and Ricky decided to start a new band, still rockin', but not so " classical ", with an actual sound, more nervous and powerful. Vivien joined them, and the Lucky Devils were born.
The Lucky Devils are among the last bands playing real Rock'n'Roll. Nevertheless, the Rock'n'Roll they're playing is a mix of different styles inherited from the 50's et 60's : Rockabilly, Garage, Surf, but it is never frankly sounding like one or the other of these styles, and stands just in the middle. It's a real dynamic Rock'n'Roll, sometimes giving blue feelings and sad moods, sometimes taking your guts and moving you, with an agressive guitar answering to a melancholic voice, with thundering drums playing loud rythms the slapping bass hammers. 50 percent of the songs they play are self penned, the other half are covers they play in their style: the result is baffling ! |
