Agreed with Mad Sin. I'd probably recommend Survival of the Sickest if I were to pick one. Or maybe Dead Moon.

My pick for Mad Sin would be Chills & Thrills.

Chills & Thrills for sure. That one is in my top 10 records of all time.

Yes, indeed. Me too. Still gets as much play as it ever did. Have never gotten tired of listening to it. There's a raw, simple, lunatic elegance to that album that they've never duplicated. Though I also really dig A Ticket To Underworld and Distorted Dimensions, Chills & Thrills, in my opinion is their best.

What's your call on a different comp?

Hmmm. Were someone to express an interest in hearing some psychobilly, I'd probably just make them a comp myself. But that's a bit off topic.

I'm not sure if any one compilation or set of them really captures what it is, to my mind. Many of them being label-based. I'm fond of the Blood On the Cats compilations, but not sure I would put them on the list either. That's a tough one.

I'd probably limit it to just regular LP's. But admittedly, it would be hard to pick just ten. Knowing me, I'd probably have to put five Meteors albums on that list ... and that wouldn't leave enough room to round it out with much more. I might could get it down to thirty. But that's just me.

Blood on the Cats & Rockabilly Psychosis are both great comps. For a REAL list of essential albums, Dan has actually been working on a project in conjunction with his radio show Gone Mental.

This is the Be-All-End-All beginner's guide to "Must Have" psychobilly albums. The third Thursday of every month, an album gets added to it during the live broadcast. Now we will never have to see another thread on "I just started listening to psychobilly, so what's good" right? Wink

I'm working with all of the record labels and CD/Vinyl pressing plants to have that URL printed on the liner of all future Tiger Army albums moving forward. We can nip it in the bud.
