yeh i remember that episode was awesome!

tabs is right, there are alot of dickheads who know nothing and they disrespect decent bands all the time, mostly cause they dont know better.

some little emo twat reviewed us, said we were typical pub rock in the vein of status quo!
made me chuckle

but i stand by my belief, they probably list more stuff about psychobilly gigs and nights in brighton there than they do here, cos its more local and the owner lives in brighton.

Um... considering we don't delete anything, you can comment on what and how you like. You can also submit your own reviews. Everyone on PN has different views on what we like - some like Hardcore, some like Pop-punk, some like Ska, some like Ronnie, a few even like Emo (usually the same ones that like Ronnie). We *all* hate each other taste in music so it's odd you believe us to have any uniformity. Ah, well.... we're always on the look out for new reviewers or people to contribute....

Still - if you don't like us, you don't like us! I'll live... Smile

As for the "yuppie cunts" - dear oh dear.... I guess you like to paint yourself as Mr. Down-and-out-working-class-hero while not actually having a job to work - much like Ronnie... damn I wish I could be as cool as either of you! Wink

hahaha. not at all. i've been very priveledged, and i work hard for the money i get. i've never made out that i haven't been & that's pretty much my point. but how nice that you felt the need to assume and point that out. thanks Laughing

im not sure how i expressed views of you having uniformity, and i can't be arsed to review what i read at present, mainly i don't like the dickstain reviews you give to good, hardworking bands (even if they're not to one's personal taste) and i've read dissertations pasted up there that are the biggest load of uninformed bollocks i've ever read. to be honest, i don't like something that i've been involved in (suppoting local and low-profile bands cause they're good people doing good fun music, for no other reason) for the last 6-7 years of my life being what i feel is totally misrepresented by people who, by what they publish, don't seem to have a clue about fundamental ideas behind it. obviously generalisation as i haven't bothered reading 'punk news' in ages and i don't care to go trawling through third rate reviews to pick up quotes.

personal opinion, but really, theres a lot to be said for implementing a little exclusivity.

p.s. yeah, ronnie and i are both astoundingly alluring, not everyone can be like us. 'COOL' though? thats a whole different kettle of fish!

i'm not saying that you must say a band is GREAT if they're not.

but don't disrespect them and put up reviews intentially made to be malicious. there was often no air of 'constructive critiscism' in many reviews i read. and in any case, what i think is utter utter shit (sonic boom six for example as a topic picked from the speedfreaks forum) i know other kids love so its a question of taste as well as being technically advanced. i've no problem saying what i think about bands on forums, cause its just banter, but when you're running a site that is even supposed to be half-professional (which in my opinion is the 'corporate identity' that you have created for punknews) where kids legitimately go to glean information, i don't think its fair to write off bands so easily. Or give your mates bands glowing reviews when they sound like poorly rubbed off generic public school 'punk', they've never played guitar but they got a brand new gibson for their last birthday anyway so they might as well make some noise with it-types. and you probably want to have a go at me for saying this and think im trying to make myself out to be some poor little disadvantaged slum kid who knows where the punk really is, and its not a question of that at all, its just a question of, a lot of the time, im bloody well right. i know the people, i went to school with heaps of them and i even know a prick who cut in a mogawk doesnt shower cause he thinks it's punk, talks with a vile portsmouth accent and went to the 2nd poshest, most expensive school in town and his ordinary voice is delightfully eloquent, his annunciation perfect.

and i wasnt talking about exclusivity in the sense that you need exclusive agendas or ideas, im just talking about articles that are actually quality reading and not pap that justin fucking toper wouldn't have a hard time squeezing out of his rectum while sitting on the bog reading his morning star-charts.

when you produce a website as expansive and well visited as i perceive punknews to be i feel those persons responsible for publishing articles there have a certain duty to provide quality informations. while i welcome a free community where people are encouraged to contribute, you really don't need to accept any old crap. in my opinion.

while i like the fact you cover a lot of different sounds, the site seems to be centred around the same handful of bands, for the most part, what i've looked at anyway. theres something about it i find generic and unintresting. i think its rather clinical and i find that a shame.

anyway, the crux of it is, its your site and you obviously like it, of course.

however, i don't particularly think its the best thing in the world, i'd i'd pretty much rather not have its propaganda pasted up on a website that is based around psychobilly.

im pretty sure you have no articles regarding psychobilly, i'd be surprised if you did. especially when probably the closest billy sounding band mentioned on your website aside from horrorpops (who are bound to be on punk news somewhere, right? Wink

) were described as 'pub rock in the vein of status quo', as hilarious as that is.

there's obviously a place for punk news on the screens of a lot of colourfully dressed teenager's computers. but not here, please.
