A while ago I did a 'People's Playlist' show for a local radio station. I played some psycho, rockabilly and surf and they liked it so they asked if I'd considered doing a show. To cut a long story short, I was too busy to do the show but it was going to be themed to make it accessible, like Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour, but with psycho.

So here it is as an online series instead. The first theme is Monsters, which I have interpreted as both supernatural beings and metaphorical monsters. No chatting, just 60-ish minutes of psychobilly and its relatives.

Motifs of Psychosis on Mixcloud

Feedback would be appreciated and suggestions welcomed for the next theme which will be Alcohol.

Like it. The no chat theme time hour format works well - some of the Dylan ones are great too.

some suggestions for the next one

the Deltas - Moonshine
the Caravans - More whiskey
King Kurt - Slammers
Merle Haggard - I think I'll just stay here and drink
Restless - Face in my gin
the two men gentlemen band - sloppy drunk
Rev HH - Liquor, beer & wine
the Rimshots - One more beer

Thanks man - the emphasis is that it's a mix not a broadcast, less yappin' more slappin'.

I'll have a look into those tracks - had the Restless and the Horton Heat on the shortlist anyway.

Mixcloud don't let you download because of their license but this means that where possible the artists are paid royalties. I don't imagine they get very much but it's something.

I'll PM you a download link though because I appreciate music in motion too.

Like that Frantics cover in that set, but thank you for reminding me how much I hate that 12 Step Rebels album. For the next playlist, maybe Gallows: Pass Me the Bottle??

Man, I hate 12 Step Rebels but I have an embarrassing soft spot for that song. Did you hear the Koffin Kats cover on their split? It's pretty stinky.

Pass Me the Bottle is on the list for sure.

I'll stick it together over the next couple of weeks.

Ah a jungle theme.

I still have some suggestions for cowboys and indians:
Long Tall Texans - Get back wet back.
Sir Psyko and his monsters - Pistolero
Calavera - Charrasqueado
Rezurex - dia de los muertos
Legendary raw deal - southern boys

Thanks man. Isn't Dia de los Muertos day of the dead? It's ike halloween right?

Here's my notes so far:

Warpath – The Krewmen – Lost Moment Records, 1987
Bang, Bang – The Astro Zombies – Drunkabilly Records, 2009?
Indians War – Happy Drivers – New Rose Records, 1992
Cactus Cowboy – The Penguin – Count Orlok,1995
Indian Style – The Cavemen – Count Orlok, 1989
Pharaohs to Cowboys – Pharaohs – Nervous, 1987
When Death Rides a Horse – Demented Are Go! – Hepcat Records, 2005
Rawhide – The Meteors – Anagram Singles Collection, came out on 7” in 1988
Indian Reservation – Long Tall Texans – Rage Records, 1991
Cows in Motion – Es-Feiv – KIX4U Records, 1989
The Undead West - Knock Galley West – Cottage Records, 2007
Big Chief Buffalo Nickel – Macey Ross – Horror Hop CD
Gunslinger – Caravans – Fury Records, 1998
Apache – The Surfaris – Decca, 1964
Ghostriders in the Sky – Damage Done by Worms – Crazy Love Records, 1994

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated. I don't think that Knock Galley West track really fits in with the rest, but I'm trying to keep all these mixes at around an hour so I need all the tracks I can get.
