Poison Bar was formed in Kiev in late 2007. The band's music is wild and furious psychobilly, which organically blends rockabilly-foundation with elements of punk and country music. In 2009 the band released the first studio single "Monsters By The Fire" later issued on compilations "Psychomania #7" (Germany) and "Lunatic Rampage" (Russia). Poison Bar toured in Poland couple of times supporting such acts as the Meteors, Green Monster, De Tazsos etc., several times participated in the biggest psycho-rockabilly festival in the Eastern Europe - the Ukrabilly Bang and played numerous gigs all over Ukraine.
Currently Poison Bar has one of the most interesting line-ups in psychobilly scene – besides traditional drums, guitar and double-bass there are two vocalists and a harp.
Poison Bar are:
Stason – guitar, lead and backing vocals
Rodyara – double bass, lead and backing vocals
Oleg – harp
Nazar – drums
Recently guys released the single with 2 songs from upcoming album "Mutated Liquidators" - "Underground" & "April 1986" on the label Karliki records.
Underground – the dark classics of psychobilly-anthem about lifestyle of real psychos looking for trouble. This is the music of desolated skirts and hollow staircases, industrial thunder of coal mines cutting into your ears and turning your brains inside out.
April 1986 – this song will make you forget the reality and carry you over in the epicenter of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster in April 1986. Feel the glow of red-hot graphite and slashing shower of gamma-radiation, and then – spontaneous mutations and post-nuclear apocalypse…
The single is available for listening and downloading on the Poison Bar bandcamp page:

Hey thanks for this man. I really like these little introductions you make.
Good aggressive stuff but still keeps the 'billy' in tact. I don't think I've heard any psychobilly songs about Chernobyl either. |

Thanks mate. Yes, I like to introduce Ukrainian bands because I think they are rather unknown beyond the borders of ex-USSR, however most of them play and release really good stuff. Besides many of them are my friends or good aquaintainces

Chrenobyl is a kind of attraction, feature of Ukraine and a good source of inspiration for Ukrainian bands including some psychobillies.
Mad Heads have been using term "chernobilly" for some time in late 90's to describe their music, I think for marketing purposes And they've had songs like "Chernobilly beat", "Radioactive rock". However those songs are completely different to Poison Bar's "April 1986". |

On April 26, 2012 Poison Bar released their debut full-length album 'Mutated Liquidators'. The album features 14 tracks, 11 of them are original songs and 3 are instrumental compositions. CD was released in Ukraine by Karliki records.
You can buy the album in digital form via Poison Bar's bandcamp page - http://poisonbar.bandcamp.com/album/mutated-liquidators for a great price of $6.66!
The band is looking forward to releasing the CD on one of the European labels, so watch this place for the news.

3. Midget the Killer
4. Моя люба (Moya Lyuba - My Baby)

10. April 1986
11. Crazy Rockabilly
12. Fuck Off My Grave
13. Thunderbird Strikes Back
14. Underground
In my opinion 'Mutated Liquidators' is great psychobilly album, I can't get tired of listening to it almost a week in a row. It features traditional themes like maniacs, deadmen, nekrofelia, perverted sexual life, etc - all this in tongue-in-cheek manner and with nice sense of humor , obviously influenced by Charnobyl's gamma-rays.
My personal favourites are 'Midget Killer' (when performed life we ofen go into the wrecking on bended knees ), 'Get the fuck out of here boogie', 'April 1986', 'Fuck Off My Grave', 'Chomu Meni Tak Zle' and the anthem - 'Underground'.
That's how guys describe the album themselves
| Quote: | | This is our debut album. Self produced, all original hard-core diy no bullshit piece of rockin' psycho boneshaker ready to kick your ass!! It is stuffed with 14 raw and nasty tracks full of real deal bass slappin', guitar soloin', insane harp blowin' and helluva prettiest oldschool hiccupin'. This is a good stuff to cure your boredom and harass your neighbours! No other way! Stay fuckin' psycho!!! |
