So you know how sometimes a band is just so perfect on their first couple releases that when they release another one and 'try somthing new' it basically just sucks and is really disappointing?
Well that is not the case here at all. Pre-ordered the new Kings Of Nuthin album and the digital release arrived in my email yesterday. And this shit is great, literally more of the same, which is a great thing because their sound was so perfect to begin with.
Torr's vocals are still that 'throat wrecked with smokes and whiskey, spitting all over the place because he's missing his front teeth' scumbag awesomeness. Swingin slap bass and piano, couple of saxes and washboard chaos. Has a few songs that are slightly different to anything they've ever done, a few guests, including Stephanie Dougherty from Deadly Sins/Dropkick Murphies.
Only heard it like one and a half times so far, but loving it. Might come back and discuss what my favorite tracks are later.
You can listen to a couple of tracks or buy the album at Sailors Grave.

After waiting what feels like about 3 or 4 years for this to come out I'm glad to say I'm not disappointed...
It's nothing new for them but what they do isn't getting old and there are enough fresh little twists on the punk rock rhythm and blues sound to keep it rolling along without sounding like they're just spinning their wheels.
I'd like to list some personal favourites but I'd be listing most of the album... And the DVD that comes with the pack is really cool even if they do completely fuck up the end of the set! Hahaha!
If you're already a fan then this is a must-buy.
I just wish they'd tour!!!! |
