OK, I was meant to do this a long time ago, but oh well. This album was a turning point for me. When I first heard it, it was like a blow to the head. I was really big into rockabilly at the time, but when I heard Disgraceland it was like a new door was opened. Without this album, I probably would have never started my search for similar distortions of rockabilly, and hence not have stumbled onto psychobilly at all.
Oddly enough this band rarely enters the is it or isn't it psycho debate. My take would be, if it isn't then what is? It was a perfect blend of rockabilly and punk rock irreverence. Live Fast, Die Young and Leave a Beautiful Corpse is a real stomper and Berlin To Memphis is still one of my favorite songs. Other notables would be Crush Your Skull and I Love Your Guts, just pure attitude, with humor but not in a stupid and cheesy way. I also really love this version of Ten Wheels For Jesus (The Beasts of Bourbon version is Ace, but EH gave it balls) and how can you not respect a band with balls. Balls enough to sing a song called "black babies dancing on fire" I might add! It may not be for everyone, but it should be given more credit by our scene than I think it gets. If you arent familiar with them, get this album. Get Hellbilly secon, and skip past Supersadomasicisticexpialidocious all together.
1 Cool Daddy In A Cadillac
2 Live Fast, Die Young
3 Hot Rod To Hell
4 Rocking Over Russia
5 Berlin To Memphis
6 Elvis' Ripoff Theme
7 Battle Cry Of 1,000 Men
8 Green Haze (Pt. I & II)
9 I Love Your Guts
10 Ten Wheels For Jesus
11 Black Babies Dancing On Fire
12 Crush Your Skull
13 Disgraceland |

Yeah, that could have been cut down to about 30 seconds. I guess it was a pretty creative idea though, but maybe not for an album. |

| I need this album. I have the other two. Hellbilly is amazing. I have to make the trip to Detroit some day to see him do his once a year show. |

Brilliant album. Sadly they never play Europe on their one-show-a-year-tour |

That's not true. They were at the wild at heart in berlin not that long ago. and last year they played the halloween gig. |

| They've made a few appearances in the last couple of years outside of Detroit. |

Manuel from the demon crew was supposed to be booking them a couple years back, but I don't know if it materialized or not. |
