I still remember exactly where I was when I first heard this album. I was driving to the mall to buy a new belt. I had just downloaded the album because a friend of mine told me to check them out. The opening chants really didn't leave any impression on my as I really didn't get it. As soon as Shout So Loud started up, something clicked. I could feel my heart start racing and my foot get heavier. I had never heard anything like this before. Sure I had heard rockabilly before, but this was something different. Something Special. Even just in the first song, I new this was great. The next song, Earwigs In My Brain, was alright but really didn't do much for me, but after the first hit I could deal with it. In The Cards got me going again, and the rest of the album kept me going. By the time I got home I raced into the house and had to play it again. And again. And again.
I had never been so hooked on anything before. I had to find more. Like a junkie in need, I quickly search to find everything I could out about this amazing band called The Meteors. I have since gone on to buy a copy of this album I first downloaded, and everyone I could find after that.
This is one of the albums that has made the biggest impact on me. I wouldn't call this the best Meteors album, but it is definitely one of my favorites.
I would recommend this album to anyone new to psychobilly as a reference. This is were is started. This is what made us what we are today.

Favorite track: Shout So Loud, this is the first one that got my blood boiling and it still gets me going like few others

Least Favorite Track: Earwigs In My Brain, this one gets skipped almost every time I play the album. Really doesn't do anything for me. A rarity for The Meteors.

Nice one Dan! Thanks for posting it up. Very Happy
It's not one of my favorite Meteors albums, but it's a very influencial one. I like their later stuff more, but there are a few tracks on here I love that give me the shivers. Maniac and The Crazed of course, also Death Dance.
Really good review though! Very Happy Very Happy

THE most influential & original 'billy release of the early '80's!, when it was released there was nothing else like it to be heard, has withstood the test of time & still sounds fresh to me Cool , one of my all time favourite M3T3ORS releases, full of classic songs.

Yeah. That Parapsychotic are really something Laughing

I agree about 'Earwigs in my Brain'. In fact, apart from the Stones 'cover', I skip most of the Nigel Lewis songs on In Heaven, but still consider it one of my favourite albums! Confused

Standout track for me is The Crazed. Apparently Chrysler used it in an ad in the States to sell their 4x4?

The daddy of them all!

whether it's the best one or not aisde, the different sides of fenech/lewis make this a unique Meteors album.
Two favourate tracks from each - the crazed, maniac, teenagers from outer space, rockabilly psychosis
