Psycho Charger has finished recording the tracks for their new CD. The new CD, titled Mark of the Psycho, finds the band moving forward with their self-titled "Horror Rawkillbilly" sound: a unique cross-breeding of rockabilly, surf, and garage rock with today's industrial technology.
Jimmy Psycho, the main mind behind Psycho Charger comments, "We just had to take a break from playing so many live shows to knock this one out. We were constantly out there playing...Except for the addition of a few samples and overdubs, it's done. I think this CD is going to sound a bit heavier and louder than our previous stuff. The guitars and drums have been really beefed up this time around. It's defnitly a progression from our last CD. It's still very horror-influenced...It rocks, it twangs, and it will scare church-goers and small children!".
Mark of the Psycho is expected to contain 13 songs, plus one bonus track. Two of the songs have been previously released: "I Eat the Dead" was recorded for the Gris Grimly Film "Cannibal Flesh Riot" and appears on the DVD/CD combo package for the film; The song "Wanted Man" (written by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan) appeared on the Wolverine Records compilation CD "Paid in Black: A Tribute to Johnny Cash". Both tracks were cited as being "stand out" selections from both projects. The remaining songs will consist of previously unreleased material that the band started recording shortly after the new year. The bonus track will be a version of "Redneck Zombies", remixed by Rue Morgue Radio Host/Canadian DJ Tomb Dragomir.
There will also be a few guest appearances on the CD...artist Eric "Unkle" Pigors of Toxic Toons will appear on a song as well as actor Chuck Williams (Bubba Ho Tep). Jeano Roid from the Creeping Cruds (Nashville) also lays down a blistering guitar solo on the disc. The band has recently been in contact with punk rock icon Jello Biafra about recording an introduction for the CD.
The band is currently taking time out to play a string of live shows, working the new songs into the set before returning to the studio to mix and master the project.
Release date of the CD is to be announced in the near future.
Mark of the Psycho is the follow-up release to the band's 2006 self-released Curse of the Psycho CD. Curse of the Psycho was very ell received and garnered numerous favorable reviews worldwide, incuding Virus Magazine naming the release "Horror Rock CD of the Year". The buzz about the CD resulted in the band selling thousands of copies of the CD worldwide.
