The Reverend Horton Heat - New Studio Album September 1st
Current mood:Happy/Sad

The Reverend Horton Heat will release their first original studio effort in over 5 years September 1st on Yep Roc Records. Laughin' and Cryin' with the Reverend Horton Heat is the band's first (non-holiday) album since 2004s Revival.

Since 2004 the band has played to hundreds of thousands of screaming disciples all over the world. A relentless touring schedule has seen the band play over a thousand shows in that time span, all those sets picked from their classic catalog. This amazing testament to the near pathological zealotry of The Rev's fan base is about to be infused with new blood through the 14 new tracks on their latest studio effort.

Landing decidedly on the 'billy' side of rockabilly, Laughin' and Cryin' was influenced by bandleader Jim Heath's love for mid-20th century country music and an open ear for what his band's legions of fans react to most. Over his 250+ shows a year The RHH has frequently found that their more comical, every day takes on the world resonate loudest. Blue collars run deep in The Rev's audience and the stories contained on Laughin' and Cryin' are sure to ring true with the working stiffs that turn up in droves night after night to drink tumblers of whiskey and see one of the baddest guitar gods still roaming the great highways of the USA. The songs here are slice-of-life tales of men with bad habits, the women who love them (or try to, at least) and the laughing and crying that goes along with it.

In celebration of the album, Yep Roc will a limited edition innovative deluxe version of the album through it's web shop which will include custom metal speedometer packaging designed by Gamil Design, a bonus CD of some of your favorite artists covering The RHH songs and a commemorative shot glass. Sign up for the Reverend Horton Heat email list below to receive an announcement when the limited edition keepsake goes on sale!

The band will kick off a tour for the album with headlining dates in the US followed by a co-headline US tour with Motorhead getting underway 8/28 in Minneapolis. Check www.yeproc.com for complete dates.

If they're actually getting more rockaBILLY then maybe I'll give it a listen. I haven't been a fan of anything since their second release but always willing to give it a listen.
Unless it's the klingonz. I'm scared they may jump out of hte cd and poop on me. Laughing

I'll likely get it. Last few shows I went to see of them were pretty lacking. No energy or anything. Still, likely going Monday when they play here with Nekromantix.

yeah, I know.....

At the show with Nekro on Monday he played about six of the new songs all in a row. I thought they were all great.

He also said it was funny because this is their most country album yet, and their tour for it is with one of the biggest metal bands of all time.

Lemmy denies the metal label, says he just plays rock and roll.
He says he was around before metal and it doesn't fit him.
