Now it is not often that I am impressed, but I wonder if there is actually an end to this blokes talents. Now we all know Vince Ray is a talented artist when it comes to drawing but the bloke can also play the guitar. Better than most.
This latest album of his is very, very good. It follows a similar theme to his first and that is no bad thing at all. I personally like the slap bass, the mix and tone are spot on for the balance of the record.
Stand out tracks "Let's go psycho" and "Stricnyne Strut", this second track is a very clever cover, of two songs at the same time.
How does he manage that? Well buy it ans see for yourself!
This has to be in my top 3 albums this year, (The third one is released in November but is a given )

I've always been put off these by the fact that all their songs are called things like 'Zombie Hearse' and 'Hot Rod Cadillac' and shit like that... especially when you consider that the guy has no background in Rockabilly music at all, it all just seems like someone who's made a record that is an outsider's idea of what rockabilly SHOULD be, if that makes any sense without me sounding like a prettentious twat...
I DO like The Vincent Razorbacks though, and his artwork is fucking boss!

kristen bought me a cd of his a few years ago, a cd single called red hot rod or something.
I thought it was shite in all honesty, but it had a nice picture on the front.
saying that, i hear he dies a version of someones gonna get their head kicked in tonigth, one of me favourite songs, so ill be giving it a listen hopefully, if someone happens to buy it and lends me it!

I know what you mean about the names of the songs and the image etc, BUT I think Vince has his tongue firmly in his cheek when he writes and performs his songs.
It ticks all the cliche boxes when it comes to playing "Psychobilly" for sure but I think that is better than some bands who try deperatly to be "Psycho" and want to be taken seriously.
I find this a little disturbing!
Vince plays a Gretsch (which is owned by Fender now I think) so wouldn't it have been more appropriate to have a Gretsch signature guitar?
I have never heard him play an accoustic!
I just got it and am very impressed, real stripped down bass whacking stuff. The covers are fantastic, especially that they are well-known much loved songs which are hard to do justice. As for the titles of the songs, if anyone is entitled to used those sorts of hackneyed old Psychobilly themes it's him. After all his art is pretty much steeped in dark themes and the music is just (an excellent) extension of that IMO.
i've just read all the comments about the boneshakers and its really quite funny, coz you lot know jack shit!
firstly, neither the razorbacks or the bonshakers are a psychobilly band so of course none of you narrow minded fucks are gonna like them...
secondly the band has your fucking beloved bassist Strangy, who has been musically on top form since they stopped his getting plastered before shows.
to the person who said that vince ray has just shown up and started trying to be a rockabilly musician, he's actually been doing music as long as he's been drawing, as far back as 25/30 years he was in a band called vern vain and the blue veins when you were still shitting yourself in Pampers.
and gaff the drummer is considered by most other drummers in the uk to be the best rock 'n' roll drummer in the country which is why he has the shit hot kit because he has a superstar endorsement with mapex which only other huge stars such as ringo starr have. and why every other punk, ska, rockabilly, psychobilly, rock 'n' roll, rock band are tripping over themselves to have him join.
the vince ray bands are very well known and well respected, promoters know that when they show up its always gonna be a good night and that they're not gonna try anything, its called proffessionalism. thats why they book the big gigs. that and because they can play their instruments.
its hilarious that you spend your time dissing the very band that all the bands you love so much really rate. but then something tells me that your all just shitty little nobody musicians that are just jealous that noone will listen to your 8 track demos you made in your bedroom...

HAHAHAHA! are you for real?!!? this was HARDLY a scathing review. half of the reviews were really positive! also, people are entitled to their opinion... they don't HAVE to like a band. jesus christ. get the chip off your shoulder already!
