For a band that seems to have been around on the Psychobilly scene for....well...forever really, it's hard to believe that this is only the third release from the Spellbound lads. But if their reason is one of quality over quantity, then this latest offering doesn't disappoint! Eleven Deadly Sins is a rip-roaring, rockin', riotous slice of Psychobilly that doesn't so much take you on a ride but grabs you by the ears like an irate mother on bath night and drags you kicking and screaming along with it! From the pounding opener 'Don't Believe In Love' it fires along full throttle showing just how accomplished - musically and lyrically - the lads have become (a cover of The Toy Dolls arranged 'Toccata in Dm' showing some fancy musicianship in particular, while I'm in agreement that Frankie Hayes has one of the best voices in Psychobilly today)! While some bands who have been around as long as the Spells have compromised their sound, these lads have stayed true to theirs. The influences that guide them are apparent to the listener as much as the sound is uniquely their own, and this album shows them off perfectly. High point....the Simon Farrell penned 'You Scare The Shit Out Of Me', a fuel-driven rocker of a tune guaranteed to get any self respecting Psycho stomping his feet and swinging his fists. Low point....a cover of The Boomtown Rats' 'She's So Modern', but only because I never liked the original in the first place. So there you have it folks...Eleven Deadly Sins by Spellbound. Yes it is... a really criminally under rated band. Its unbelievable that a band like this can release a record this good and still get ignored by a large section of the psychobilly community. Back to top fatty231 Posted: Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:13 pm  Wreckmaster Joined: 30 Jun 2008 Posts: 1634 Have to say that i got this today courtesy of Raucous and i cant believe i nearly missed out on this release....after 2 listens it is an absolute stonker of an album...almost perfect if im being honest,its that bloody good...Fast but tuneful,pounding but rockin and the singer has one hellva voice to boot with the production being spot on for the tunes....These guys should be a lot bigger on the scene....a lot lot bigger!! So if ya thinking of buying a cd this pay day....this one wont disappoint ya one little bit _________________ Fuck ya mamma...Fuck ya papa...and fuck ya sister too!
