Wrecking in Warsaw – BOMBAT BELUS release their first 7''

Psychobilly from Poland? To be honest, this is rather new to me, especially if the lyrics are in polish. Of course I don't give a fuck. Music should bring people together, so welcome BOMBAT BELUS! The self-titled EP of these guys, released via Dandruff In My Mouth and limited to 300 copies in red vinyl contains four tracks that differ from todays psycho fashion in various ways. First of all the band abstains from using an upright bass. I love slappin' bassplayers, but even the METEORS („Dziadeczek“ clearly reveals their influence) used a bass-guitar at times. It adds more punk-attitude to the whole thing. I'm not talking about Punk-abilly here. I'm thinking of early EXPLOITED and a really tough attitude. Don't overestimate this. The three musicians of BOMBAT BELUS might be very open minded and feel like including different influences, but it's mainly psycho. The kind of psycho that interjects lyrics with insane screaming and is focussed on a rather simple rhythm that drives the retarded brains of listeners insane imediately. If the coverartwork says anything about the content of the songs they are rather psycho-tic, too. Slasher inspired, well supplied with blood, sometimes a bit vampiresque – Patreze (Bass, Vocals), Zombie Nose (Drums, Vocals) and Pomek (Guitar, Vocals) haunt Warsaw like their „Psycho Frantek“ who must be a classic serial killer...

It's hard to inspect, if this really is the first psychobilly 7'' ever released in Poland. Does it matter? Not really. It would be nice exotic add.on, nothing more. First of all, the four tracks are good psycho-songs with mangy vocals that can easily be played in repeat-modus ( I tested it myself). This is a promising debut release. Well, I still ask myself, if the band listened to early WALTONS. In the beginning of „Stary zły“ there's a short hispano-guitar-phrase that reminds me of them. I guess the best thing will be to check them out by yourself. Here's the BOMBAT BELUS clip for the song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=byAXJ0LkXZU
