Since there often seems to be a perception that the only Australian psychobilly bands to exist are Fireballs and Zombie Ghost Train I thought there was a little room for further education of you international types
(plus I'm bored, whatever)
Manic Pistoleros have already been mentioned on here a few times, but for anyone who's missed them (and they are fucking brilliant so you should not miss them!)
http://www.myspace.com/manicpistoleros and they're on le facebook too.
(straight out psycho, old school influences but definitely not stuck in the past)
I might add that the singer Al is also in an awesome Oi band called Marching Orders, who will be playing at Rebellion so you English types can check them out there

Vaudevillians have also already been mentioned on this forum, and they've broken up now. But I'll post the link anyway. Adrian Whyte (singer and guitarist) is now playing in Manic Pistoleros but also has a solo album coming out sometime

Murder Rats are another Melbourne band. They're a little controversial, some love em some hate em.
I'm one of the former personally.

Rechords are most definitely not a psychobilly band, but my absolute favourite melbourne rockabilly/hillbilly band. Absolutely worth checking out if you like a little Hank Williams, Stanley Bros etc

Enough for now, I'll add more later.
They're all on facebook and you can find stuff on youtube as well. |

I like Vaudevillians, heard them on Psychomania compilation a year ago and still listen to them from time to time.
Bone Rattlers are from Australia too, aren't they? |

Bone Rattlers were Tassie, broken up now but did an AWESOME cover of Surfin' Bird
Google These
The Saucermen
The Blazing Entrails (WA)
The Working Horse Irons (Melb)
Bad Moon Company (QLD - split)
Graveyard Rumble (qld)
Dirty F Holes
Gasoline (QLD -split)
Vampers (QLD)
Dick Dynamite and the Dopplegangers (NZ but it's close enough)
Andy from BMC/WHI has a new band in melbourne apparently but I don't know the name.I also know that Thomas the Black has a new band in Brissy but the name escapes me.

Yup Howlin Moondoggies were from QLD I think, I have an album of theirs.
And Chucky, Andy is putting together another band but they haven't started playing yet as far as I know, and Rian from WHC is working on another new band too I think. |

thats awesome news! We're gonna be up for interstate gigs as soon as we've got a few under our belt. Keep me in the loop with whos playing and when and I'll be up for flying down to give some support.
If there's one thing that shits me it's that no fucker Wrecks in QLD, when Fireballs played in Brisbane it was me and one other dude until the last three songs....then all the 'cool' dudes piled in for the encore.....fuck that pisses me off! the only exception was Bone Rattlers when they played Greazefest.....I made sure people got thrown that night; although Bourbon helped LOL |

Shall keep you updated We could use a few more interstate psycho bands playing down here, it's been a little dead lately apart from a recent Brigitte Handley show...but I don't really dig them.
In terms of wrecking down here, it really depends what bands playing and who's at the shows, but you'll usually find a few up for it. Nick aka Hornet always is |

I'll talk to Josh from Graveyard Rumble and the boys from the Vampers; both should be up for some interstate stuff.
I was planning on doing one show up here every three months with an interstate act and two locals; that way I can mix it up enough to keep it interesting. |

fuck yeah, now we're gettin' somewhere!! cheers!
you do realise I got a LOT more CD's to buy now!
I just got back from practice; first time we've run through the set with no fuckups. It feels like we're finally gettin' somewhere. When I chose to do originals I never thaught it'd be so fookin haaaard!
If anyone has heard of the "chopped" weekender in newstead, vic. you should try and get on the bill. Theres a big roadcrew cruising down from here in October for it. |

Sweeet, I went last year and will probably go again this year, provided I'm not too flat out with end of year Tafe stuff.
Heard of the Camperdown Cruise as well? Big rockabilly weekender, I'm hoping to get to that this year too.
It's the weekend of the 22nd of October, so only a couple of weeks after Chopped. |
