Always been a big fan of Mad Heads, only know some tracks from Mad Heads Xl that i heard on the net, but how is it a side-project? Sounds the same as Mad Heads xl to me.
Not a big ska fan as it is so i'll skip this one. |

Haha what a coincidence - right on Saturday my wife with her friends attended the gig of Mad Hads XL / UkrainSKA - and in the same day Roy posted these news
Well, actually the difference between MH XL and UkrainSKA may be unclear for non-ukrainian people. Musically they are the same - (pop)ska-punk + reggae etc. The difference is that project UkrainSKA has been started to perform only ukrainian folk songs. There are several ukrainian folk songs in the repertoire of Mad Heads XL - "Smereka" ("Pine-tree"), "Richenka" ("Small river"), "Dva dubky" ("Two oaks"), but primarily they perform their original songs. These songs are well-known by everybody on here - so I guess with this new project guys will achieve even greater popularity among people than they have being just MH XL.
But since both MH XL's and UkrainSKA's lyrics are in ukrainian - it's no wonder that for you it sounds the same.
My wife and I were and still are the big fans of Mad Heads trio, so her opinion after Saturday's gig is "They perfectly and madly play ordinary pop music, Vadim is still the best guitar player I've ever seen. But people are going crazy - chavs are dancing on the bar and tables, the crowd is singing along with the band"...
I personally would prefer another news - like Mad Heads reunion and comeback, but I almost don't believe it's possible...

Ugh, I LOVED Mad Heads. I even repurchased the Ukrainian re-releases of the first three albums. Contact really went off a cliff though, there are a few decent tunes and a lot of shit. It isn't because none of it is in English, I like plenty of bands that I don't understand. It is just really boring. |

You are absolutely right, mate! Especially in case of this folk-ska project of Mad Heads XL. |
